Enjoying their home at Brandeis University, where they've been on the faculty since 1980, the Lydians also love to share their
passion for music and their expertise with others. The LSQ has experience teaching in an impressive range of settings from
university to public schools; classrooms to community centers; summer workshops for amateur musicians to pre-professionals and the
conservatory. Each member of the Quartet has a deep commitment to education, so a Lydian mini-residency affords opportunities for
interdisciplinary connections, stimulating outreach, and meaningful personal contact.
What do these mini-residencies look like? Tailored to the sponsoring organizations requests, residencies include a full-length
evening concert, around which other activities are centered. Such activities might include
Masterclass/coaching
Pre-concert talks
Lecture demonstrations (may focus on history,
biography, composition, etc., geared to targeted audience needs)
Workshops for student composers
Outreach offerings, from concerts in schools, retirement communities, and public libraries, to coaching adult amateur
musicians, leading a Music Club discussion group and more.
